Council and Members

Gurnard Parish Council took over from where the Gurnard Ratepayers' Association left off and has no Political Party membership. It was officially formed due to Public demand in 1985, with the first meeting being held on Thursday 18th April.

Of the currently serving members Councillor Mrs Sylvia Pain has the longest record, having served continuously since 19th May 1987 and her 20 years' uninterrupted service were marked with the presentation of a plaque and large potted shrub.

There are 9 serving Council members who usually serve for 4-year terms, or multiples thereof, and many of the members represent the Parish Council on various other Public Bodies.

It is most important for residents to note that Parish Councillors give up much of their spare time to serve the Village, and this service is unpaid.

Full Council meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7pm with the exception of August, and the usual venue is the hall at the Gurnard Primary School, accessed from Hilton Road.
