May Queen Procession 2007

Once again this event was threatened by rain, but it just about kept off for this year’s event, which was held on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May 2007.

The procession was followed by a mini-fete event at the WI Hall, which included refreshments, music, games and stalls.

The procession format was very similar to the 2006 event and again there were no individual entries, which was a shame.

However lots of fun was had by all, and hopefully the following will give you a taster of the day:

The procession, as always, gathered in Solent View Road, and was led by the band:

The Band was warming up!?

This was a "special" pose!

Looks like too much chit-chat going on!

Not that clear, but this is a Centenary Poster

Bit draughty, but looking very demure nonetheless!

Do look at the little one in orange-gorgeous!

What's that you say?

A bit of encouragement from a friend

Will it start - will it fly?

Where's that noise coming from?

The wind was a problem for the Dragon

and we're off - watch out for your kids (The Catcher's about)!

Hey it works - what a beautiful sight

Not to be outdone by Chitty...

Wave to the crowds now please - finger on the pulse?

Aghhhh!

Hi - good to see you.

Stop messing about now - money anyone?

The band half way round

Melodius sounds at the WI Hall

Cool or what - what a star?

Wake me up when it's all over please?!

A "Dude" of a County Gentleman

Face-Painting anyone?

Just chillin' with the family

A classic WI "Spread"

The WI "Ladies" hard at work - more tea anyone?
