May Queen Procession 2008

Whilst it certainly was not a scorcher of a day, the weather was kind to us for the 2008 event, which took place on Monday (Bank Holiday) 5th May. In fact, later on in the day it became quite humid!

The procession was followed by a community event at the Village Hall, which included refreshments, games and stalls.

The procession format was very similar to the 2007 event and yes we did have one individual entry, which was great – we really need more of these to complement the main group entries!

It was a fun day, though the number of entries has been steadily reducing year on year:

The procession, as always, gathered in Solent View Road, and there is always “much fussing” especially by the parents and leaders!

Get together now everyone!

The tiara IS straight, and “Oh – have I forgotten something?”

In spite of the sign, some car drivers still ask if they can go past!

Don’t you just love it – “women at work!”

The ONLY individual event – what Stars they were!

The May Queen – looking very cool!

Bags of them!

A quick “warm-up”

Environmentally-friendly Beavers!

And we’re off …………..

Serious business!

Looking good ……. Princes this year too!

Hello Cowes Queens – nice to see you!

Save the Rain Forest – bless ‘em!

Half way round the Village now

Ooooops – head-dress on the move?

Bash that gong!

Technician in charge of the wind farm?

Refreshments time – the Village Hall touting for business!

Time to relax – put the feet up

Are you sure that water’s hot enough?

Service with a great smile! Great cakes too!

Again – great cakes!

Activities in the garden

Lots of stalls

Even story-telling – sat on a mat

And crafts

Fun for the kids too!

Finally – a bit of magic!
