One Million Blooms
This was a project undertaken jointly by Gurnard Parish Council and the Gurnard "In Bloom" team in the Summer of 2007. The Parish Council managed to secure a grant of £2000 from the IW Council for the project, and supplemented this figure to the tune of about a further £1300 to convert 3 grass verges in Worsley Road just below the Newsagent to a sustainable drought resistant planted scheme. The scheme is split into 3 main sections with paved areas in between, and one teak seat was also secured within the scheme which was funded by the Gurnard in Bloom Jubilee Fund.
Do notice below how the one worker is watched by all the others!

Once the Parish Council had arranged for the verges to be cleared of turf and rotatvated it was over to the in Bloom Team, complemented by a couple of additional volunteers, to complete the planting.
Emma Glasbey met with Simon Goodenough at Ventnor Botanic Gardens for advice and also purchased most of the plants from the Centre.
The project was finally completed with the laying of the paving and securing of the seat in September 2007:
