Premises
The Parish Council doesn’t own any premises at present, always hiring rooms as and when they are required. Most meetings were held in the hall at Gurnard Metyhodist Church in Worsley Road, but when that was sold the Parish Council moved to Gurnard Primary School in Hilton Road, with the Village Hall or Gurnard Pines being used when additional space was required. The lounge at Bucklers View was used for the Parish Plan Steering Group meetings in the early stages, thanks to the hospitality of its Warden and residents, and the back room at the Portland Inn has also been used for informal meetings with other community bodies.
Consideration has been gicen to the idea of having some office space at the Village Hall for a Parish & Community organisation's presence. This was agreed in principle by the Parish Council, but further research and consultation would be needed before proceeding any further with this project, and this is on the back burner for the moment. In December 2011 the Parish Council moved its main meeting venue to the new Gurnard Primary School in Baring Road as the old Hilton Road site was being sold off by the IW Council and it now meets in the Food Hall, which is a large and airy room close to the car parking area.
