GURNARD PARISH COUNCIL REPORT
At February’s meeting of the Parish Council the main topics discussed were:
Access to Cooks Bay and options for the English Coastal Path to be routed over its original route on the cliff edge using walkways in the couple of places where the cliff has eroded. Councillors are meeting with the Isle of Wight Council to see if the barrier can be repositioned and open the section of the path up to the cliff edge to allow a viewpoint to see into the Bay.
The Parish Council has received a request to register Shore Path and Spencers Copse as a right of way on the definitive map and Natural England are considering proposals to include this section within the England Coast Path.
Councillors raised the issue of water escaping from a driveway on Cockleton Lane and are looking to resolve this with Island Roads and Isle of Wight Council.
Councillors removed a fallen branch at Old School Meadows and are investigating other overhanging branches that might present a danger.
A quote has been received to supply and fit new unipod toilets on the Green and two further quotes will now be sought to renovate the toilets for comparison and value for money. Councillors are seeking to find out more about what are known as S106 contributions, which can be sought from developers towards the costs of providing community and social infrastructure and hope that projects such as renovation of the toilets on the Green and the play area might be supported in the future.
The Parish Council are proposing the 3 fields on Tuttons Hill be designated as a Local Green Space as part of the Island Plan Strategy Consultation and are meeting with Planning Officers shortly to discuss further.
Gurnard Parish Council are supporting the Great British Spring Clean 2019 and on Saturday 30th March 2019 there will be a beach, Green and general litter pick – if you are able to help please meet at 10am at Gurnard Village Hall.
