GURNARD PARISH COUNCIL REPORT FOR THE GURNARD NEWS SEPTEMBER EDITION
At the July meeting of the Parish Council the main topics discussed were:
POLICE REPORT
PSCO Derek Howard attended the meeting and provided a written report. There were seven reported crimes in June this year compared to three for the same period last year. He did report that four of those crimes were at the same address and would have previously been reported as one crime. The community priorities remain the same.
Ahead of the meeting a PRE-PLANNING APPLICATION was received
The architect for 13 Shore Road gave a short presentation to councillors and members of the public about a new application which will be submitted for 13 Shore Road. Questions were raised about the design, size and materials used. Due to the interest shown by residents in this application, the architect adjourned to the garden to continue the discussion allowing the main meeting to continue.
REPORTS
Notes, reports and minutes from the various meetings attended by Councillors were received and noted.
PLASTIC FREE
Councillor Orrey talked about Gurnard becoming a Plastic Free village. A working party will be set up to work with local business and residents to see how this can be achieved.
BIFFA BIN ON THE SEAFROUNT
Councillor Laurens provided a written report about the continued misuse of the Biffa bin. The bin is being used for household waste and even garden waste, which is not why it was funded. It was decided to stop the contract for the bin with immediate effect. The council had previously agreed to fund an increase the empties of the existing litter bins on the Green.
BEACH CLEAN
The Parish Council will be organising another beach clean in co-operation with Costa Coffee on Sunday 23 September 2018 at 2pm. Participants are to meet at the toilet block. The event is being carried out as part of the Isle of Wight Day festivities which are focusing on clean beaches this year.
The Parish Council had a well-earned rest in August with no meetings taking place
